The Marshall High School campus is the scene of a tense situation Thursday.
In addition to the stabbing of a student that happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday, a group of students and staff members are demanding that the school’s security plan be bolstered.
“I don’t believe in the safety of the school, I don’t believe in the safety of life,” Marshall High School senior Alex Brignard said at a Thursday afternoon press conference to outline the protest of the school.
“It’s not just a school, it’s not just about school. It’s about all of us. I feel like we’re all one big community,” he said.
The student at the center of the drama, Zachary Evans, is a freshman who was stabbed during class Wednesday morning. It happened about 9:30 a.m., police said.
During the rally, students and staff members asked for increased police presence and security at the high school.

“I don’t like the fact that we are always on the front page of the local news,” said one woman.
“You are in high school. You are like the little kid that gets left out of all the other things and I just don’t like that,” another student said.
