Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Champ Ben Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual assault by Andrea McNulty, an employee of Harrah’s Casino in Reno, claiming he lured her to a hotel room then sexually assaulted her.

Andrea McNulty filed a defamation lawsuit against Ben Roethlisberger. The sexual assault allegation involved nine defendants, including Roethlisberger. The suit involves six civil accounys: assault, sexual assault and battery, false pretenses, false imprisonent, intentional infliction of emotional distress and fraud.

Apparently Ben was in Nevada at the time Andrea is claiming this event took place taking part in a celebrity golf tournament.

His attorney Daniel Cornwell denied the charges and questioned the strength of McNulty’s case in light of the fact that she has not filed a criminal complaint. He issued the following statement:

“This weekend Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008. Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”
